Project 2 - Mass Producible Object Proposal

For project two, I want to expand on my current project, but I think that I should finish it up closer to the end of term.  I dramatically redesigned the edges to contain straight edges so that they are easily stackable and portable, like an Ikea shelf would be. In terms of naming it as a product, I would advertise it along the lines of "geometric dragon bookshelf" because I want to keep the name relatively literal. I ended up making a lot of progress on redesigning the bookshelf to be cut exclusively on the CNC machine. I was pretty torn over designing the curved shelves, so I approached it with the intent of using only straight boards with diagonal cuts. Until then, I'd like to work on a project that is relatively small scale but will still take up the rest of my semester.  When considering mass-production, the first thoughts that come to mind is something that can appeal to an audience. Remix culture

  Remix culture doesn't need to make sense and part of it's appeal is the surreal aspect of it. Because of it's ability to take current pieces of work and combine them into something new and different, it allows one greater creativity through speeding up the process compared working from scratch. I mostly think it's cool to be able to take an existing work and remix it by either adding more works or changing it to fit your own style. What if a ghost couldn't float? It'd be able to go through any objects but will have no way of going up or down, meaning it could be stuck drifting underground beneath hills, etc and unable to go on any second stories. This issue would probably be solved by giving a ghost wings. Maybe the type of wings would also indicate morals (devil wings for evil) or personality of when it lived. OBDF 311 Project 1 - Update #2

Design updates from last model: I decided that the horns and scales of the dragon should just be part of the backing to simplify the process of adding those attachments. I figured that there will be some waste due to the odd shape of the backing anyways and that it would use up less material than trying to bend those curves considering it is not meant to be usable shelf space. The outlines are caused by an engraving in the center parts of the horns and the center of the back spikes. (The outline was offset and then engraved about 1/3 of the material deep.) Note: the color here is just for display purposes because I found that using the "white paint" didn't provide enough contrast between background and object I was thinking of making a 1/3 scale mock-up using cheap 1/4in plywood. Before I buy it. I want to check out the size of the small scale CNC machine in the thing tank so I know the dimensions I would need to cut a large sheet into. (If I buy my supplies at home depot...
