I wanted to base my chess set off of the video game Cuphead (which also happens to have a show on Netflix that I highly recommend watching). I had a sketch from a while back (I was pretty excited for this assignment) and I was thinking of which characters would best fit which pieces, especially considering the fact that in a set, the pieces are repetitive in that there are 2 knights per side, etc. Not to mention it feels suiting to transfer the idea of Cuphead into Chess due to the fact they are both two player games. Initial Sketches: Pictured below: Bat-Bomb - Pawn: Reasoning: For the pawns I wanted to do something that would make sense to be repeated (as there are 8 per each side), so I choose the bomb-bats from the final boss. (Truth be told, I don't know if these things have an official name, they just appear during one of the phases of the Devil's fight).      If I had more time, I think I would have worked this a bit further than the current finished state. It feels like this is a simplified version of a Wii remote. That's not to say I skipped over making entire components, but there are small details such as hidden serial numbers that I didn't put time into. I can't help but feel like it is stylized, even though I know I took the measurements as accurate as possible. Overall, I think the hardest part of this process was trying to put it back together exactly the same after taking it apart weeks ago. If there is anything I learned from this project, it is that rounded out corners make me want to perish. I haven't been able to find a way to smooth out a corner using the fillets, as it would fillet one direction okay, but then when filleting the other way it just creates another corner. Below is an example of what I mean by this. Please send help, I just want my corner to be perfectly smoothed out. I've tried to fill in this space with a section of a sphere but that also held no results. Besides that, I have to admit that my motivation to complete this has been lower than it should be, but I have the circuit board (mostly) completed after some trial and error. I found that if you want specific patterns on each side, you have to explode the object and set the scans (as I was not carving out every little detail) as one trimmed surface.
